My Favorite Ways to Display Your Newborn Portraits in Your Home

As a mom with over 60,000 photos on my phone, it’s clear that I love capturing everyday moments. But my desire to document our daily life doesn't stop with just taking the photos - in fact my living room gallery wall is full of photos from our family photoshoots, and I adore it. There’s something special about the idea that, by hanging up professional portraits of our family, we become the art. It brings warmth and personality to our space, making it feel more like home.

I recently read an article about the importance of photographs and how they help your child develop a more positive self image. One quote from Professor Geoff Beattie, Head of School and Dean of Psychological Sciences at the University of Manchester stood out to me, "When children grow up surrounded by photographs, it gives them a richer understanding of where they come from, which helps with confidence." Our portraits connect us to our sense of self, to each other, and to the memories that shape who we are.

From your baby’s first yawn to those tiny toes, newborn portraits are treasures you'll hold onto forever. But why keep them hidden away? There are so many beautiful ways to display those precious memories, and I’m thrilled to share my favorite ways to display them with you. From albums that tell your babies story, to loose matted prints, framed portraits, birth announcements, and holiday cards, you can create a home filled with love and tangible reminders of these fleeting moments.

TABLE OF CONTENTS:

Heirloom Albums and Matted Albums

Heirloom and matted albums are perfect for telling your newborn’s story, capturing those fleeting moments across multiple images and preserving them in a timeless keepsake. These albums can be fully customized to complement your home, with options like fine linens, leathers, and even velvet. You can personalize them with your baby’s name and birthdate, making them a beautiful addition to your coffee table or shelf— becoming an instant conversation starter. Or, like my children do, you may find yourself flipping through the pages with them, admiring how tiny their fingers and toes once were. Each page holds a precious memory, inviting you to relive those special early days.

With heirloom albums, you have the flexibility to design your album to display multiple images on a page, or showcase just one or two, while matted albums provide a more refined look, with each page featuring a single photo. The thick, durable pages ensure that little hands can explore them without worry. These albums aren’t just beautiful—they are made to last. One of the most meaningful ways to use these albums is to create a yearly tradition with them. On your baby’s birthday, sit down together, flip through the pages, and reminisce about those early moments. It’s a wonderful way to watch their story unfold year after year.

Framed Prints and Loose Matted Print Box

Framed Prints:

Fine Art Framed Prints are a beautiful way to bring your family’s cherished moments to life, creating a timeless gallery wall that grows with your family. A gallery wall offers the perfect blend of versatility and personalisation, allowing you to display multiple portraits that tell the story of your loved ones in a cohesive, curated design. You can mix frame sizes and shapes for a unique layout that feels personal and thoughtful, highlighting the individuality of each memory. Whether it’s the joy of a newborn session or the connection of a family portrait, your gallery wall can evolve over time, expanding as more moments are captured and celebrated.

For a simpler, yet equally striking approach, you can choose to frame just one or two key images, creating a stunning focal point that immediately draws the eye when you enter a room. Each Fine Art Framed Print becomes a meaningful piece of art, whether part of a larger collection or standing alone as a beautiful statement. It’s more than just decoration—it’s a way to surround your home with love and memories that will last for generations.

Loose Matted Print Box:

If you love the creativity of DIY framing, a loose matted print box might be the perfect option for you! With loose matted prints, you have the flexibility to easily rotate the photos on your wall, keeping your space fresh and ever-changing as your family grows. Any prints not currently displayed can be safely stored in a beautiful fine linen or museum glass box, making them a lovely addition to your coffee table or entry table. This way, even the photos not hanging on the wall can still be cherished and enjoyed, creating a personal touch that you can adapt to your style and preferences. It’s the perfect blend of elegance and versatility, offering a new way to celebrate your family’s special moments.

Canvas Prints and Other Unique Ideas

Canvas Prints:

Canvas prints are another beautiful way to display your cherished family moments, offering a blend of contemporary elegance and artistic charm. The texture of the canvas adds depth and dimension to your photos, creating a unique, tangible experience that enhances the emotion behind each image. With their frameless design, canvas prints provide a clean, modern look that blends effortlessly into any space, giving your home a gallery-worthy feel without the need for traditional framing. They offer a simple yet striking way to showcase your favorite memories, turning them into works of art that truly stand out.

Canvas prints work wonderfully in so many areas of the home. Imagine a large canvas of your newborn adorning the nursery wall, or a cozy, quiet spot in your home where everyone gathers—whether it’s the living room or a family nook. These prints add an extra layer of connection and warmth, transforming these spaces into places filled with love and meaning. They become more than just decor; they’re a beautiful reminder of the moments that matter most, bringing comfort and joy each time you walk by.

Birth Announcements, Holiday Cards & Ornaments, Oh My!

There’s nothing quite like sharing the joy and love your newborn portraits bring with friends and family. Those first few weeks with your little one are filled with moments of pure bliss, and what better way to spread that happiness than by sending out birth announcements, holiday or thank you cards? These personalized touches allow your loved ones to share in your joy, whether through a beautifully crafted card or even a personalized ornament or magnet to display in their own home. Each time they glance at those precious keepsakes, they’ll be reminded of the love and connection that bonds your family together.
